AgLocal is venture backed startup focused on improving the sources and quality of sustainably produced food. We’re headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in New York. We’re currently building an e-commerce platform to facilitate the exchange of high quality and sustainably raised meats. The meat production market alone is a $200 billion industry and we are building software that will fundamentally change the way food is produced and sold. Our users are producers (family operated farms and ranches), wholesaler meat purveyors, and restaurateurs.


AgLocal is looking to add an experienced manager to our team in the lead marketing role. 

The candidate will work directly with the CEO and Head of Sales to determine the proper tools, strategy and personnel to drive new user acquisition and existing user engagement. This manager will also work unilaterally with the Head of Product Development to ensure that proper customer feedback is being implemented into the core AgLocal software feature set. This role is a senior role in the company and as such is expected to manage all company personnel that will be tasked with marketing related activity.


  • Oversee Online Marketing efforts: Email campaigns including data segmentation and analytic breakdown, SEO implementation and optimization, etc.
  • Utilize advanced research methods so that all marketing initiatives are data driven
  • Strategize email deliverability, performance improvement and cost management
  • Develop plans to improve user acquisition, retention and reactivation through the use of online initiatives
  • Deliver aggressive growth with measurable ROI
  • Build, manage and optimize effective marketing campaigns for a diverse range of initiatives (e.g., revenue generation, user sign-ups across various search and social media networks, including Google, Yahoo!, Bing and Facebook
  • Create, manage and optimize localized marketing campaigns
  • Generate and update online marketing reports (via tools and on an ad hoc basis) and regularly share performance metrics to the executive team
  • Manage ongoing communication and workflows with distribution partners to help resolve issues, document challenges, facilitate collaborative product roadmap brainstorming sessions, etc.
  • Identify new opportunities and strategies for assigned markets that will assist with scaling our acquisition efforts


  • Experience with e-commerce marketplaces, building marketing initiatives and structure (preferrably b2b)
  • Experience managing online marketing, product marketing and direct marketing initiatives
  • 2-5 years of tactical online marketing and account management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of global ad platforms (Google, Facebook, Bing, etc.) and local ad platforms
  • Highly proficient in Excel (pivot tables, graphs, formulas, etc.)
  • Familiarity with creating innovative and effective marketing strategies on multiple ad platforms. Experience ranging from writing ad copy, trafficking, defining audience targets, structuring tests and generating out-of-the-box solutions to help increase engagement
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, start-up environment
  • Excellent communication skills
